Speech Language Pathologists play an important role in assessing reading comprehension, decoding, receptive, expressive and written language among children who have been identified by their parents and teachers as having difficulty with language based learning. The goals of language treatment for the individual with a language based learning / reading problem focus on the specific aspects of reading and writing where the student is having difficulty. If appropriate, intervention in receptive and expressive language will be provided to support the development of reading and written language skills. Planning strategies will also be provided to help students organize written assignments. (ASHA)
